My “Blooming Lilac” candle label was the first one that I wanted to create. It was a lot of trial and error because I had no idea exactly what I wanted. I started with a pastel purple-blue color, a basic font, and some lilac images. After printing it, the color came out white, the letters were blurred together, and I couldn't read the bottom word. The design itself seemed too simple so I added some purple snowflakes, changed the font, and made the background a darker color. I was able to read everything but the bottom part so I added a purple box that matched the background. Finally, I had my desired label.
The “White Tea Jasmine” label was definitely the hardest design to create. Unlike the Blooming Lilac, I had an idea of what I wanted the design to look like, so I had to find the right images. I wanted something simple in color and design. At first, I tried using an image that had more green, and it didn't get to the printing stage. I got tired of looking so I deleted the flowers and let the design sit overnight. With a fresh set of eyes, I began looking for a calm white and dark green flower to add to the bottom. It took a few hours to find, but I was patient, and it worked out nicely.
On this candle making adventure, I learned that creating labels is never easy. It takes time and definitely more than one try to get it right. Especially when working with a cheap printer. Having a not-great printer doesn't help with a professional-looking project. While creating candle labels, each label had a different set of problems to deal with which made the process kind of fun. Overall I think this project went really well. If you're interested in looking at my candles you can find them on my Etsy shop.
